The Citizen Police Academy (CPA) is a 36-hour academic course designed to give Mesquite citizens a working knowledge of the Mesquite Police Department.  The CPA classes meet once a week for twelve weeks.

The primary objective of the academy is to build understanding between citizens and the law enforcement officers who serve them.  It is hoped that through the educational process, public awareness will be increased, suspicions and misconceptions dispelled, and finally, that a lasting rapport will be forged between law enforcement and the public.  The Mesquite Police department hopes to benefit from this endeavor by gaining insight to the concerns of the community through participant interaction.
